The Island of Unst is the most Notherely point off the Shetland Islands, in fact, it’s the most northerely pointing the whole of the UK. Some very strange things happen here …

On the summer Solstice, you can read a book outdoors at midnight. It does’nt get dark … at all. This phenomenon is known as the “Simmer Dim”. Basically night consists of the sun dropping below the horizon for only a few hours. It rises again at 3 am, so it stays bright all throughout the night.
